Fenris-class Light Frigate

Morningstar_01.jpgAbsolutely no one can deny that the purchase and deployment of three Fenris-class light frigates by the SpaceFarer’s Collective has gone a very long way in exacerbating the long simmering tensions between them and the Moros World Assembly. In nearly every way, the Fenris is better than her Royal Ducal Navy counterpart, the Idris-class. Despite being significantly smaller, she is faster, tougher and packs a much harder punch with the addition of the medium railgun bay, although admittedly, she has to get in much closer to inflict most damage. The addition of a state-of-the art sensor package as well as a highly efficient point-defense network makes the Fenris extremely difficult to counter. Further adding to the Fenris-class’ repertoire is the addition of a type III space-folding correspondence drive which grants her up to 3000 parsecs of travel distance, vastly beyond anything fielded by the duke’s navy.

Designed for extended patrol and escort duties, the Fenris often operates alone as a police ship and border patrol vessel. It carries a pair of Herald-class boarding launches in either hangar, and each has space for up to 30 marines, although the Fenris rarely carries more than their standard naval crew of 30 unless mission parameters demand otherwise. As stated, there are currently three of these in the Collective fleet and plans have already been announced to purchase another two within the next year, a fact that clearly troubles the Moros Ministry of Defence.

Update: All three known vessels of this class were destroyed on 2 August 2405 CE at the Batttle of Three Navies. Despite this, however, there have been multiple sightings of different Fenris-classes throughout Moros…
